FINDING HARMONY

I know exactly how it feels to go from being plagued by exhaustion, negative thinking, and physical pain to connecting with a deep inner-source of infinite energy, finding self-love and life balance.

And you can too.

Before I became one of only 5 women Certified to teach Ashtanga yoga in North America.

Before I became a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach.

Before the 50 million YouTube views.

Before helping thousands of people just like you find stillness, a deep sense of inner-connection and freedom from physical pain.

I was a little ballerina from Calgary, Canada, who struggled with perfectionism, self-criticism, disordered eating, and bouts of anxiety and depression.

 The Journey Within

Not being comfortable in my own skin was a way of life, until a search for meaning overtook my love of dance during university. Double-degrees in Philosophy and Religious Studies at the University of Calgary, plus a newfound interest in yoga and mindfulness, led me to asking deeper questions.

Who am I? What am I? Why am I here?

In 2002, I traveled to China to research Buddhist Meditation for my degree. For six weeks, we lived and practiced in several monasteries in remote areas of the countryside. The daily routine of getting up, meditating and chanting was an otherworldly experience.

For the first time, I understood the interconnection of consciousness. It awakened me to a new way of being so different from my life in North America.

I wanted more of it!

After my initial immersion, I pursued Ashtanga Yoga, a philosophy of dynamic postures with breathwork, in conjunction with mindfulness meditation. I attended several ten-day Vipassana meditation retreats, a Buddhist process that reveals unconscious conditioning causing pain in all its forms, and continue with this practice today.

In 2004, I made my first trip to Mysore, India, to practice and learn Ashtanga yoga under the direct guidance of Sri. K Pattabhi Jois and his grandson R. Sharath Jois.

It was the beginning of something big, but…

When I returned to North America, I became hyper-aware of how our culture places nearly unbearable pressure on our nervous systems. During those initial trips to China and India, I felt completely at peace within myself. No more monkey mind. No more spiraling thoughts. It felt like I had finally arrived home. And I realized this was only just the beginning of my journey.

To continue my immersive studies, I moved to Thailand in 2004 and began studying Ayurveda and Pranayama, the ancient science of breathwork, directly from Sri O.P Tiwari, who at that time, was the head of the Kaivalyadhama Yoga Research Institute. I also continued making annual trips to India and eventually moved there in 2007.

Those years of intense practice solidified my dedication and devotion to the Ashtanga Yoga lineage. Even after returning to Canada in 2009, opening my own yoga studio, and bringing my son into the world in 2011, I returned annually to India, for the next seven years, to continue mastering asana with Sharath Jois in Mysore, and pranayama under Sri O.P Tiwari’s watchful eye.

In 2015, I received certification from Sharath Jois, which is the highest acknowledgment one can receive from the original Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India. This is an internationally recognized credential to teach the Ashtanga Yoga method and the Advanced Series.

At the time, less than 17 women world-wide held this credential.

But there was still a piece missing for those living in a culture that removes us from nature, community, and the wisdom within.

I discovered a way to blend ancient wisdom and technologies with personal development tools and healthy habits so you can free yourself from physical and emotional pain.

To bridge the gaps I worked with a coach. My personal results were so ground shaking that I took four coach training programs and became a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach with an emphasis in mental fitness.

I’m currently a Coaching Circle Facilitator for the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and continuing my studies in Quantum Coaching.
